UNIFEM
New Zealand is, for the fourth year, co-ordinating a White Ribbon Campaign to
mark the U.N. International Day for Elimination of Violence Against Women
(IDEVAW).
In
2004 an initial campaign was organised and over 13,000 white ribbons were
distributed to diverse organisations, schools, companies and government
departments throughout the country. Since then more and more ribbons are
being worn each year.
There has been widespread success and enthusiastic support generated for this campaign
by many groups and individuals. The Families Commission collaboration is
invaluable as it widens, supports and strengthen this "Stop Violence"
initiative further in 2008.
We warmly thank all you who endorse
the message by joining our endeavour.
The
major objective is to heighten awareness and to educate towards a commitment
to never condone violence and abuse in our society.
We
invite your participation again in White Ribbon Day and warmly welcome new
supporters.
